Welcoming You Safely

The Suggestibles’ School of Improv Covid Safety Policy

Updated 8th January 2022

We would rather not allow Covid to get in the room in the first place. Thank you for following these safety procedures and adhering to our policy.

The safety of our students, teachers, performers, audience, and staff is our priority. We continue to frequently review our risk assessment and update our Covid Policy, whilst carefully observing new NHS and government guidelines and restrictions.

This continues to be reflected in our Terms and Conditions which include refunds or credits if you can’t attend in-person due to Covid-19.

This is for your safety and the safety of others. By working together, and for each other, we can create a space to feel comfortable, confident, and to have fun!

For in-person classes at Jurys Inn:

If you are not comfortable attending in-person classes at this time or don't wish to follow these procedures, we suggest you join our online classes or take a break until a time they can be lifted.

  • You MUST be able to show your Vaccine Passport when you attend.

    • This applies to audiences as well.

  • You MUST take a lateral-flow test prior to attending and show proof of a negative result taken the same day. A photo on your phone is ideal.

    • Please swab both nasal and throat as recent reports say Omicron is less likely to be picked up by nose swabs alone.

  • You MUST NOT attend if:

    • You have had a positive Lateral Flow or PCR test result.

  • It is currently the law to wear masks in most indoor places, except under certain circumstances, which includes certain performing arts rehearsal and performance activities. Therefore:

    • You MUST wear masks while observing unless you are medically exempt or they cause you anxiety

    • You CAN remove your mask when participating in scene work and some games for example.

  • We have two sizeable rooms per night at Jurys Inn for our weekly classes. At this time, class sizes will be a maximum of 10 per and a minimum of 6. (We're afraid it is unaffordable for us to run classes with less than 6 students).

  • For ventilation and fresh-air flow during class, there are several windows that will remain open, or be opened at regular intervals if the weather is especially cold or windy. We advise you to bring an extra jumper. Doors will also be open during quieter moments to increase airflow (improv can get noisy at times and there may be other groups in neighbouring rooms).

  • There will always be hand sanitisers available at the venue.

    • Sanitise your hands when entering and exiting the building, and when entering or exiting our own spaces.

    • Should you make skin-to-skin contact during an activity, be aware to sanitise your hands afterward, and we will remind you to should we observe.

  • If at any time you feel an activity is unsafe, please advise your leader.

For Audiences at The Cumberland Arms:

  • You MUST be able to show your Vaccine Passport on arrival.

  • You do not currently have to wear masks at hospitality venues such as pubs and restaurants, but we strongly advise you do so when moving around the building. Please be aware of any changes in government laws or guidelines regarding masks.

  • There will always be hand sanitisers available at the venue. Please sanitise your hands when entering and after handling objects others may come into contact with.

Cancellation due to Covid:

When you are due to attend one of our events, you should take a test earlier that day.  If you (or a named member of your group booking) tests positive for Covid and you are due to attend, we will provide a full refund for the person who cannot attend the given event:

  • When you give us no less than 4 hours notice and can provide evidence of the test.

  • With less than 4-hours notice, we can only provide a refund if we are able to fill your space from our waiting list.

  • For class members, we can also inform others in your group who may you may have come into contact with.

See our full terms and conditions for our standard refund policy on bookings outside of the Covid exemptions above.

N.B. Refunds, credits, and transfers are not automated and need to be manually processed. Please tell us when you cancel should you be eligible and require a refund, credit, or transfer.

Should we need to cancel or postpone an event you have booked due to Covid, we will provide you a full refund, or a transfer to another suitable event should you prefer.

Thank you for adhering to our policy. #staysafe
